Dr. Gilda Opoku is a physician–scientist and PhD candidate in Integrated Physiology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus with a research focus on respiratory physiology and muco-obstructive lung diseases. Her work centers on understanding the mechanisms of airway mucus dysfunction in asthma, particularly the biosynthesis and polymerization of the gel-forming mucin MUC5AC/Muc5ac, with the goal of identifying novel mucin-targeted therapeutic strategies.
